Could You Be Dehydrated? 8 Signs Your Body May Need More Water
Water is easy to take for granted. We drink it when we’re thirsty, use it when we’re exercising, and often forget about it during a busy day.
But your body depends on water for many everyday functions, including regulating temperature, supporting digestion, transporting nutrients, and maintaining normal blood circulation.
The good news is that mild dehydration can often be addressed simply by drinking more fluids.
So how can you tell when you may not be getting enough?
1. You’re Thirstier Than Usual
Thirst is one of the body’s simplest signals that you need fluids.
If you frequently feel thirsty, especially after spending time in hot weather, exercising, or eating salty foods, it may be time to reach for a glass of water.
Don’t wait until you’re extremely thirsty before drinking.
2. Your Urine Looks Darker
Urine color can provide a useful clue about hydration.
Dark yellow urine may occur when your urine is more concentrated, which can happen when you haven’t consumed enough fluids.
Pale yellow urine is generally associated with better hydration, although medications, supplements, and certain foods can also affect urine color.
3. You Feel Tired
Feeling tired doesn’t automatically mean you’re dehydrated. There are many possible causes of fatigue.
