My Neighbors Treated My Driveway Like Their Own — So I Made Sure It Never Happened Again

There are some things you expect from living in a neighborhood: a friendly wave, the occasional conversation over the fence, and a basic understanding that everyone respects each other’s property.

My neighbors seemed to have a different interpretation of that last part.

At first, I tried to ignore it.

Then they started treating my driveway as if it belonged to them.

It Started With “Just This Once”

The first time I noticed their car parked in my driveway, I assumed it was an innocent mistake.

Maybe they had a visitor.

Maybe they needed somewhere to park for a few minutes.

I didn’t make a big deal about it.

But then it happened again.

And again.

Soon, their driveway seemed to be optional while mine had somehow become convenient extra parking.

What bothered me wasn’t simply the inconvenience. It was the assumption behind it.

They weren’t asking.

They were using my property because they apparently believed they could.

I Tried Being Reasonable

Before taking any drastic steps, I decided to talk to them.

I explained politely that the driveway was private and that I needed it available for my own vehicle.
